Dr. Ruth M. Corbin, ICD.D, Ph.D., LL.M is the Chair of CorbinPartners Inc., an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall, York University, and a Corporate Director. She is also an Editor of the Journal of Forecasting, the Canadian Intellectual Property Review, and the Trademark Reporter.
Ruth has served on the Boards of The Giles School (Chair), Saint Elizabeth Health Care (Executive and Finance Committees), Toronto Hydro Corporation (Chair of the Audit Committee and the Corporate Governance Committee), Toronto Dance Theatre (Chair of Finance), Toronto Hydro Retail Services Inc., MDS Inc., Trimark Financial Corporation, Alphanet Telecommunications, Unihost Journeys End Hotels, IFR Investigative Research, the Angus Reid Group, the Market Research and Intelligence Association, Canadian Mothercraft Corporation, the Royal Conservatory of Music, Hope Air and the Traffic Injury Research Foundation.
A recognized expert in marketing and intellectual property assessments, Ruth has previously been Vice-Chair of Leger Marketing, President and Managing Director of Kroll Canada, Chief Operating Officer of the Angus Reid Group, and Managing Partner of Royal Trust’s Credit Card and Direct Financial Services Businesses. She is widely published on matters of intellectual property, survey evidence, and risk management, and in frequent demand as a speaker to business audiences. Her book, Survey Evidence and the Law Worldwide, is Canada’s leading reference text on social science evidence in litigation and regulatory affairs.
She has been named among Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, and among Canada’s Top 100 Women Entrepreneurs. University of Toronto’s University College has listed her among the college’s most influential Alumni in its history.
In her spare time, she is an avid musician, with performance awards from the Royal Conservatory, Peel Music Festival, Davenport Music Festival, North York Music Festival, and Kiwanis Music Festival, and has been featured in the Kiwanis Music Festival “Showcase of the Stars.”

Jon Purther is President and Chief Operating Officer of CorbinPartners Inc.
Jon has more than 20 years of senior management experience in strategic marketing and research management, including domestic and international assignments. With CorbinPartners, he has successfully led numerous integrated market research engagements. He has also provided affidavit evidence, report submissions and/or appeared as expert witness in matters before the Court, Ministry of Attorney General, and the Ontario Securities Commission.
Prior to CorbinPartners, Jon consulted on international expansion efforts and held senior management roles with reputable financial institutions. He was a principal member of the team that set up and managed the online financial services of Ameritrade in Canada. He was also an executive with the brokerage arm of Canada Trust, and performed product development and management roles for the investment division of TD Bank.
His educational background includes a Masters in Business Administration from York University (now the Schulich School of Business) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
Jon is also Executive Director of the IP Innovation Foundation, a charitable organization that supports innovations in the sciences and the arts, for social and economic benefit to Canada.
Through her series of residencies or career moves in Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Barbados, St. Kitts and Canada, Janine brings valuable international perspective to client assignments. She has earned degrees in Business Administration and Law with honours, and held career positions in business administration, information management, corporate law, and Estates law.
Janine’s hobbies include board games, watching sports events, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Joana Ayoub, Project Coordinator, will ensure reliable functioning and integration of all project components. She will co-ordinate all aspects of field work including logistics and supervision of resources, and assist in research design, analysis and reporting. She will ensure quality controls are met, and oversee implementation of all administrative tasks.
Ms. Ayoub has a background in Architecture and Real Estate Development. She holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture, and a Masters degree in Architectural Detail and Construction, both from the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Marseille. She completed her thesis on Sustainable Transport in 2011, before moving to Dubai and focusing on mixed use development. She has spent more than 5 years managing projects, developing masterplans and overseeing completions, allowing her to gain a better understanding of urban and metropolitan growth. Her leadership roles have provided a foundation for ongoing success with CorbinPartners.
Professor Ida Berger is an expert consultant to CorbinPartners Inc. on matters of marketing, advertising, and consumer behaviour.
A full professor at Ryerson University, she earned B. A., M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto with a concentration on consumer attitudes and behaviour regarding branded consumer products. She has previously been a professor of marketing at the business schools of the Universities of Toronto and Queen’s University, and has related work experience with McLaren Advertising and Woods Gordon Consulting.
Professor Berger has authored numerous published papers in refereed journals and been featured as a presenter at many academic and business conferences. Her work has been recognized with awards from the American Marketing Association, Journal of Consumer Research and the Marketing and Public Policy Conference. She has also acted as an expert witness in Canada on matters of branding and marketing across a wide range of product and service categories.
Dr. Pauline Wallin is a psychologist and executive coach, and an expert advisor to the firm on employee attitude and measurement projects. In her independent practice she specializes in psychological screening and testing of employees for hiring and promotion, employee satisfaction surveys and focus groups, workplace assessments, confidential executive coaching, and employee training workshops.
Dr. Wallin has served on several community and professional boards. She is author of Taming your Inner Brat; (Wildcat Canyon Press, 2004), and has twice received the annual Psychologists in the Media award from the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, for her contribution to dissemination of knowledge about measurement and behaviour.
Sheryl helps clients determine actionable steps for reaching business objectives based on findings from communications audits and focus groups which she designs, conducts and analyzes.
With a management background in publishing, marketing and communications, Sheryl works with both private and not-for-profit organizations. Her clients are diverse, including leading banks and financial institutions, communications and advertising agencies, major retailers, and professional associations.
An accredited public relations practitioner, Sheryl is a York University graduate, and earned le Diplome annuel des cours de la civilization francaise from la Sorbonne, Paris.
In her free time, Sheryl enjoys travelling, hiking and hanging out with her husband.
Mr. Culbert has 20 years of senior management experience in the financial services industry and has extensive experience in financial planning, forecasting and modeling.
He is a Director at Strategic CFO Inc., and has financially managed businesses from start-up to maturity. Mr. Culbert has held roles as Chief Financial Officer for Sun Life Securities (the discount brokerage arm of Sun Life Financial), Chief Financial Officer of Ameritrade Canada Inc. (acquired by TD Waterhouse) and Fidelity Clearing Canada (a division of Fidelity Investments). Mr. Culbert applies a systems approach to business planning and financial modeling.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce – Honours in Accounting from the University of Ottawa.
Glenn LaCoste is an expert consultant to CorbinPartners, with over 20 years experience in the field of financial services. As President of Surviscor Inc. (www.surviscor.com), Mr. LaCoste has been actively involved in scorecard assessments within the brokerage and banking sec tors since 2003. Prior to that, Mr. LaCoste held executive positions in the brokerage marketplace at CT Securities and Datek Canada (formerly Ameritrade Canada), after starting his career at TD GreenLine (now TD Waterhouse).
